The Cybersecurity Engineer will provide leadership, team coordination, and subject matter expertise in the areas of Information Assurance (IA) and Cybersecurity (CS).  The Cybersecurity Engineer determines technical IA requirements and ensure proper security implementation of the Risk Management Framework (RMF).

The Cybersecurity Engineer serves as the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) for both networked and standalone computer systems.

The Cybersecurity Engineer provides security oversight for the associated software development project.  This includes assisting the development team with secure software development requirements, performing static code scans for security vulnerabilities, performing software impact assessments, and providing analysis of software vulnerabilities for remediation.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide support for systems across the entire Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process. This support will consist of documenting, monitoring, updating, and managing systems to maintain an acceptable security posture and to achieve an Authority to Operate (ATO).
  • Develops RMF documentation, standard operating procedures, policies and security instructions for both networked and stand-alone computer systems and provides oversight and guidance for multiple systems.
  • Perform system auditing, vulnerability risk assessments, Assured File Transfers, and hardware/software configuration management.
  • Interface with internal/external customers to identify requirements and provide problem resolution.
  • Evaluate assessment documentation/results and provide analysis recommendations.
  • Ensure that system security requirements are addressed during all phases of the system life cycle.
  • Manages information systems using Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
  • Independently determine and develop approaches to information assurance solutions.


  • BS/MS degree (Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or Related Science degree)
  • Active SECRET or TOP SECRET Clearance
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • 10+ years related experience
  • Must meet position and certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive 8570.01-M for Information Assurance Manager Level 3.
  • Must be familiar with current security policy/manuals.
  • Must have the ability to work in a dynamic environment and effectively interact with numerous DOD, military/civilian personnel and industry partners.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).

  • Experience with Air Force Evaluated Product List (EPL) process.
  • Experience with Assess Only RMF process.
  • Experience with SIPRNET accreditation process.
  • Experience using Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Experience with Windows 10 management and hardening.
  • In-depth knowledge of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and their implementation.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Application Development STIG and its implementation.
  • Experience with configuration and usage of Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) Compliance Checker (SCC).
  • Experience with performing static code scanning and analysis of source code for security compliance.
